Cafe Review: Fritz Coffee Wonseo

Fritz Coffee is one of the big chain coffeehouses in Korea that also roast their own coffee and offer pour-overs in addition to espresso-based drinks.

Their flagship is located in Dohwa but the location in Wonseo just outside Anguk is not to be missed, as there is one museum and one art gallery basically on the premise. My friend and I grabbed some coffee and then went to the Arario Museum in Space, which I’ll post about at a later date.

Cafe Onion in Anguk too busy? Walk 2 minutes and try your luck at Fritz, where, dare I say, the coffee is better. It’s an underrated coffee chain amongst foreigners in Korea, who all want to go to Cafe Onion in Anguk. (I see how many hits I get from that particular cafe review, and it’s a lot.)

Seating here is at a premium, especially in the winter months, which is when my friend and I went. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long for a small table to open up, but a group bigger than two people will have a hard time finding seating at this cafe, so I’d recommend against it. The only seating is in a sort of mini hanok outside of the actual cafe, and you’re given a buzzer to collect your pastries and coffee when called. During the warmer weather, there are a number of seats outside the mini hanok, so that’s when I would recommend visiting.

I highly recommend checking out the Arario Museum in Space after drinking your coffee. It’s probably my top museum in Korea because it’s filled with interesting art from well-known and not-known-to-me artists, and the actual physical space that you travel through the museum adds to your experience.

Fritz is great! I’ve been going to the Dohwa / Gongdeok location since 2016. Nice ambience especially on rainy days. Visited Wonseo once and Yangjae a few times too. Someday I’ll post about Fritz too ^^ . Thanks for showcasing it
