Cafe Pokpo: Sip Lattes by a Waterfall

Ever wanted to sip a latte while relaxing next to a waterfall? Come to Cafe Pokpo in Seodaemun-gu!

So the waterfall may be artificial, but the coffee and pecan pie are delicious and it’s nice being able to sit outside and take in some nature while drinking coffee.

Cafe Pokpo is remarkably easy to get to from line 3. After getting off at Hongje Station, simply take a short bus ride and it’s a 3 minute walk to the cafe.

We went shortly after they opened and they were already starting to get busy. Luckily, they blocked off a part of the balcony area so you can take photos with the waterfall without interrupting any other customers.

There’s a ordering kiosk for foreigners that is in English but still yells at you in Korean (and then English), and they only offer for-here cups, not that I’d imagine you’re coming to the cafe to grab something to go.

There’s also a hiking trail off to the side of the waterfall that looks relatively easy, and a recreation of an old-fashioned waterwheel and farming shed.

Proceeds from the cafe go to scholarships for local students.

It’s definitely worth a visit, but come early!

And of course, I took lots of photos of the waterfall itself.
