Why Eero Cafe Should Be Your Next Coffee Spot

Eero Cafe is one of the most impressive cafes I’ve visited in Korea. Not only was the coffee delicious, but it features a number of art exhibits, including one downstairs past the bathrooms that is not to be missed.

A recurring motif of the cafe is the haechi (해치), a mythical lion-like creature with scales. It is also the mascot of Seoul and has gone through variations reinterpretations.

Around the back of the cafe, outside, is a giant stainless steel and acrylic sphere installation, “NONE SPACE” by artist Haeju. The sign reads:

“This work is a sculptural piece that reinterprets the bell hanging from Haechi’s neck, which is a symbol and one of Haechi’s morphological characteristics in the legend. The movement of wind and natural phenomena are visualized from various angles through a composition of materials that reflect the upper part and transmit the lower part. Through empathy and reflection that captures that subtle changes in nature as it flows, we explore the aesthetic language and deep connection between nature and humans.”

Back to the first floor, where there is a rainfall installation and a few seats.

I ordered one of their signature lattes and a black sesame cookie. It was really cute and delicious.

If there aren’t enough seats available on the first floor, fear not! There is another floor below, and you must absolutely go there even if it’s just to look around.

Walk a little past the rainfall area, check out the mirrored tile bathrooms, and you’ll find a little room off to the side that you can enter.

Cafe Eero is located in Seocho-gu, south of the Han River, and is one of the cafes I always recommend to people visiting Seoul looking for good coffee and a unique experience.
