Cafe Review: Blue Bottle Busan Millak Cafe

Located along the Suyeongman Bay, Blue Bottle’s Millak cafe in Busan is a small cafe with an impressive view.

This particular cafe was full of natural light thanks to the large windows along the side of the cafe, and there is an outside patio for when the weather is nice. Seating is a bit limited but my friend and I were able to snag one pretty quickly.

I have a few Blue Bottle cafes left to visit in Korea. Two of them don’t have seating (or only outside seating) so I’m considering not adding them to my list (despite having visited and reviewed their Myeongdong location, which is take-away only). I’m also not including pop-up locations or locations that merely feature Blue Bottle coffee. That leaves two proper locations: Busan Gijang and Pangyo Hyundai. The Gijang location is about three hours away by a mix of public transport including several local buses, an intercity bus, and at least an hour on the Busan subway, and the Pangyo Hyundai is south of Seoul in an area I have no reason to visit now that my friend who lived in the area moved back to the US.

This may be the end of my Blue Bottle in Korea journey. I’m still not sure why I started it, but as I’m sitting here typing, I’m thinking of all the memories I have of being a Blue Bottle barista–working at Mint Plaza, opening the first DC location, working during the Nestle acquisition of Blue Bottle, the many regular and interesting customers, and the coworkers that truly became family.

There will be time for those stories later. In the meantime, enjoy these photos from the Blue Bottle along the bay.

I had an iced single-origin pour-over and a raspberry muffin.
